Eruption
Run!!! Escape from an active volcano as you jump and dodge your way to safety. Avoid fiery lava balls and rivers of magma, as you make your way to that sweet, sweet oasis.
Eruption is a 2D platformer designed for the Oculus Rift. The player starts on top of an unstable volcano and must escape to safety. The core mechanics of the game are running, jumping, and sliding. Using the head tracking of the Oculus Rift, the player must constantly scan ahead in the environment in order to overcome obstacles.
I led a 5 person team in order to create this virtual reality game, as part of a 1-month game jam that was sponsored by Oculus Rift. Our team consisted of two 3D modelers, a designer, and two programers. Using the Unity game engine, I architected the game's code base including gameplay mechanics and user interface. I also integrated the art and music assets into the game.
