Angel Brawl Online
See who is top angel in this online free-for-all brawl where only the strong survive. Use the bounce mechanic to expertly dodge and shoot various divine themed projectiles at the opponent(s). Angel Brawl Online is a fighting game that supports up to 16 simultaneous players and is available to play via Mac OSX. Once the game starts, the player will be put into an online arena. New players can enter the online arena at any time. Each player starts with 6 hearts, and it’s game over when a player loses all their hearts. Players can damage other players using their projectile attacks. These attacks also provide the player with an upward boost, which allows them to be used as a way to maneuver expertly around the stage.
This game was developed by me and my sister. Originally, it was planned as a platformer, known as Angel Adventure. However, the project stalled and turned into a zombie due to me being in over my head and being one of the first projects I ever pursued. It was a humbling experience which really opened my eyes to the fact that there was so much to game development that I didn’t know. Years later, I revisited this project and decided to revive it as an online brawler, so the ghost of the original idea will still live on for eternity. The player mechanics are still similar to the original platforming concept, but used to create a fighting game instead. That way no new art assets needed to be created. The most interesting technical challenge was the real-time online multiplayer aspect of the project. To accomplish this, I used a combination of the Unity game engine and the Photon networking framework.
